The Friendly Faces Behind it all
Meet the CAYLS Team
Ashton has been working with children and families since graduating university in 2010. Her role at CAYLS involves program planning, coordination and administration- in addition to working directly with the kids in CAYLS programs. Her passion is the nature education aspect of her work where she loves creating opportunities for kids to get outside and engage with the natural world in a hands on, direct way.
Shannon Byrnes and her family moved to Chase in 2021. She is loving the community and being active with Chase Young Learners Society. She has a background working with families as a clinical counsellor and art therapist and also provides yoga classes for all ages in the area.
Ian has lived in Chase for about a decade and appreciates all that this beautiful community has to offer, in particular outdoor recreation with his family. He is in his third year as President of the CAYLS and appreciates this opportunity to help create opportunities for kids in Chase.
Roy grew up in southwestern Norway on a mixed farm, and
became a chef in 1991 before spending a good dozen years pursuing culinary arts. Roy and his wife Carmen have always valued spending time with kids. Together with their two daughters they did lots of hiking, cross-
country skiing, boating, and fishing. The kids also got to be involved in the family’s small catering business and market food stand. Roy still enjoys connecting with kids when there’s
an opportunity to do so.
